Scouting for Food

In the Law of the Pack, a Cub Scout Do a Good Turn daily and in the Cub Scouts Promise, a Scout promises to help other people at all times. By participating in a Scouting for Food, our Scouts come a little step closer to fulfilling those words. Pack 1116 takes part in the annual food collection orchestrated by Scouts of the National Council to help fill the shelves of the Capital Area Foodbank. Area Scouts distribute plastic bags to homes across the region and return to pick up the bags, now filled with food, one week later. Collected food is distributed to needy families throughout the communities of the Council.

Across the country, in many councils and districts, thousands of troops and packs with millions of Scouts involved collect tens of millions of pounds of food which is distributed to needy neighbors.
